Before Graduation, the Fellowship requires its fellows to demonstrate proficiency in:

​​

  • Communicating with patients and families across a variety of socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds;

​

  • Communicating with physicians and other health professionals;

​

  • Effectively working as a member of a health care team or other professional group;

​

  • Maintaining accurate, comprehensive, and timely medical records;

​

  • Communicating sensitive issues or unexpected outcomes, including diagnostic findings, end-of-life issues and death, and medical errors;

​​
